Rick and Ash were at a breaking point with work, health, and their relationship. He was running a reputable plumbing company and she was a sought-after Property Manager for a large corporation.
They owned a home in a good neighborhood, had dogs, and both vehicles were paid off. On paper, they were perfect.
But both of them were struggling in every sense. Binge drinking, morbid obesity, perpetual arguments, and doubling-down on their careers was literally destroying them.
August 2014
Some background on their spiritual propensity – they had none. Rick had abandoned his dad’s version of Christianity around age 13, Ash had zero religious background, and neither of them were spiritual (or interested in being so).
But by 2015, in desperation, they went outside the box and sought a friend who teaches shamanism. This opened both of their hearts to a realm previously reserved for mockery.
Later that year, at 35, Rick had the insight that he wasn’t going to make it to 40. This was so impactful that he said to himself “I just want to be peaceful”. Immediately he realized that he had ‘no idea what the hell peace meant’.
This realization of “not knowing” turned out to be the key to the padlock. Then, asking openly to be peaceful, he instantly felt a shocking and palpable aliveness in his heart.
A couple weeks later, The Power of Now by Eckhart Tolle “found him” on YouTube. Never hearing anything like it before, a massive shift in perception took place. Rick’s mind sat in relative stillness, the room was vibrant, and he became immersed in a deep sense of comfort.
The ego’s chatter returned a few days later, however, he was now able to observe it rather than be identified with it.
Rick’s behavior completely changed; instantly he was gentle, loving, and communicative. The arguments that ravaged the relationship were now rare (and often only in Ash’s head hehe). After some time, she saw that his “software update” was permanent and (gasp) started to look within.
Ash’s spiritual shift was a more gradual one, but just as deep and impactful. Her experience at work became enjoyable, she was promoted to a less stressful position, and relationships with colleagues and clients were more meaningful.
People were drawn to hear Rick talk about what happened to him (the change was not subtle). He also had the ability to shine light on the blindspots he could see in them.
Everyone he sat with led to a deepening of his own awareness, and it was obvious this is what he was meant to do. Rick quickly let go of his business and dedicated his life to Presence and the service of others.
It’s worth mentioning that they collectively lost close to 200 pounds over the course of a few years. This was impossible with their previous mindsets. They’d tried every-single-diet/powder/drink/pill they could get their hands on).
“When you get the inside right, the outside will fall into place.”
Ash continued in her corporate career where she built lasting connections. But it came time for her to serve on the deepest level (and continue on her own inner journey). She left her safe, fancy-titled position to do just that.
Today, Rick takes several callers a week, most of them word-of-mouth, and Ash manages social media and other behind-the-scenes shenanigans.
This is hands-down the most fulfilling (and often terrorizing) journey they’ve ever been on. Highly recommend it!
